The individual “owns” her or his individual personally identifiable information
Personally identifiable information should be treated the same any other personal property protected by law.
Sale, trade or use of personal data not authorized by the individual/owner of said property should be treated as property theft.
An individual shall reserve the right to any and all monetary compensation resulting from the use, sale, lease or trade of personally identifiable information authorized or unauthorized unless agreed upon.
Sales and use agreements to sell, lease, share or trade personally identifiable information must include:
- Terms of use(sale, trade, lease etc.)
- Duration of use (if not sold outright.)
- Which personally identifiable information to be used and for what purpose.
- Monetary compensation agreements
