Growing up, I did not know anyone with Type 1 diabetes. After my 2 yr old was diagnosed in 2008, I wondered if childhood vaccines were the cause. (I wish I knew then what I know now about vaccines.) Today, we know so many Type 1 diabetics and see so many CGMs and pumps ‘out in the wild.’ What is causing the ever increasing numbers of diagnoses?
Secondly, can we hope for actual Cure Research to be conducted? I pray that will happen. We all know that every patient cured is a customer lost for the Big Pharma profit machine. We all know T1D is a HUGE cash cow and the discovery of a CURE would put a LOT of corporations and foundations out of business. While I am thankful for modern tech that makes life with T1D a little easier, what WE NEED is REAL CURE RESEARCH, NOT another device or drug or bandaid. We need to free our loved ones from the burden of T1D for good!
Have you seen research by Cyrus Khambatta PhD and Robby Barbaro MPH? Their Mastering Diabetes program is incredible. As of now they can’t reverse type 1 but they help thousands reverse type 2 and increase insulin sensitivity ten fold for T1Ds! Their approach using low fat high carb diets to reverse insulin resistance is groundbreaking but at the same time the data has been evident since 1926. So much research has been done and replicated on this… and yet, physicians still only prescribe meds and a low carb diet (which in turn is higher fat) and this only makes diabetes worse in the long run. Blood glucose is controlled in some but only because carbs are removed. The dietary fat inhibits the metabolism of carbohydrates. Lowering fat allows insulin to function properly so diabetics can healthfully and safely eat healthy whole food carbohydrates
