It’s ok, you’re not the only one. probably the 4th person to ask. At this point I just copy and paste a similar response.
I cannot support policy which allows for the killing of children.
The only solution I can support is to always put the innocent child first.
Define abortion as what it is, the intentional killing of a child in the womb regardless the reason and make it a crime.
Procedures to save the mother in a situation where her life is genuinely in danger but results in the tragic loss of that child, not abortion.
We cannot punish the child for the sins of the parents.
How many mothers and babies died before Roe?
How much has promiscuity and sexual disease gone up since Roe?
How much has rape and incest and child sexual abuse gone up since Roe?
Legalizing abortion opened Pandora’s box. There is no middle ground between right and wrong.
Abortion-until-birth is already legal for most people and the frequency of abortions is higher than ever before. The only thing we can do is mitigate the circumstances within the political constraints handed to us.
The “killing of children” AND women, is already happening and the abortion figures are soaring, most likely due to the advent of mail-order pills. Full abortion bans are not on the table; abortion-until-birth laws are, unless Trump does something to stop that train from continuing to bulldoze through. So your policy of not allowing ANY protections for women and children, just because it’s not a full ban, is what will allow all of this killing to continue/worsen.
In addition, this has nothing to do with “punishing” any child; more to do with saving as many lives as we CAN.
I explained in much more detail in the below previous responses:
My point is that this is like the southern border. Making it less easy to cross doesn’t fix the problem. Feeling sorry for people doesn’t fix the problem. Laws are for lawbreakers.
More regulation never fixes anything. Abortion just needs to be illegal. Abortion was not an issue until it was legalized. There is nothing common sense about abortion – nothing.
Abortion bans are not on the table. Restrictions/regulations are the only option at this point, if we are interested in limiting abortion at all, and keeping a pathway for the next president to consider more restrictions (since Trump refuses to support any ban).
Lady. You are fucking unhinged.
You won’t ever get my support on this. Good fucking luck arguing with people on this. I’m done arguing with a fucking idiot.
The question and argument has been, ‘when does life begin?’ The question should be ‘when is the beginning of life?’ I believe that a willing and smart attorney could build around this and get it to SCOTUS. The approach should not be antiabortion, but rather focus on the rights of a baby from conception.
This is essentially the “psychopath trolly problem” and it’s as flawed here as it is there.
In the trolly problem, the answer is to do nothing, don’t touch the switch because the instant you do, your actions have caused the death of either the many or the few. If you can stop the train or rescue some of those on the tracks, do so. Not adjusting the course of the train doesn’t make you guilty; it’s the psychopath who put the train in motion that killed those people.
Abortions will happen regardless of their legality. Making them legal will encourage more of them while justifying the murder of innocent children. Prosecuting abortionists will reduce their number.
Again, care provided to save the mother which results in the tragic loss of the child is not abortion; abortion is the intentional ending of the life of an unborn child. This eliminates 90% of all concerns and takes the power away from pro-abortion propaganda.
You say “making them illegal” etc… Mass abortion already is legal. Abortion-until-birth is widely available, and unless we support viable, strategic measures, the problem will worsen and abortion-until-birth will become even more available, in all 50 states… So in that sense, my proposal isn’t making something legal that wasn’t legal or happening already. It will, however, strengthen pro-life attempts to save as many babies possible within our current political constraints, and to enact pro-life restrictions and keep those pro-life protections in place.
It just feels unfair to blame my law for the very issue that it is trying to address, an issue that already exists and will only worsen if we avoid viable, strategic measures. My proposal did not create the “train” or the “psychopaths” running it either.
We can stop the train, while not completely and/or not right now due to the current political constraints, however there are two things that we can do right now, as a start: shift its course to a safer direction that allows us to at least save some of the children, knowing that we have a path to save even more children on top of that, in the near future.
It’s my wish that federal legislators would debate all of these provisions, consult with their constituents and their available data, and then they make a decision at that time about which exceptions they should support or exclude. I would prefer that they make that calculation on their level.
Hey Texas, that’s disgusting, but I’m not surprised you’re putting all the blame on women. Why don’t we make vasectomy free?
Citizens are born, not conceived. The rights of fetuses to be born are currently more important than the rights of women to stay alive. People like you who are apparently female and due to your religious beliefs undermine women’s rights are absolutely disgusting.
I agree with this however, Ashley Luna, is right… I’m a DIE HARD pro-lifer but the days we are living in, we will never see a truly Pro-Life government and democracy. We have to work with what we have and use this term to our advantage to get as MUCH as we possibly can on our side. This would be a huge turning point in how both parties can truly educate on the topic of abortion so that hopefully and prayerfully women are more informed of their decision in order to dissuade them from having an abortion at all. I would love to see a total abortion ban but the democrats will never allow this, they’ll rip Trump and republicans apart, and then our chances next term for a Republican president are even more slim. This election win was PIVOTAL and CRUCIAL to the survival of our country and I think we have to just pray and continue to make smart, informed, calculated decisions until we’re where we want to be! I know it’s awful to hear abortion is legal on any level… it breaks my heart… but after reading this proposal it truly is a foot in the door and a much greater win for the Pro-Life advocates.
I had a partial previa, and I would never snort my daughter, her 5 children ( all who are hard workers and kind) as well as my soon to be great grandson.
We say cats are pregnant with kittens, not fetuses. A baby is not a fetus.
The baby has rights too.
When we harm the least of these, it reminds me what Hitler did to Jewish women and those deemed undesirable.
A friend was told by OB GYM that her baby was deformed & she should abort. That little girl was not deformed.
I worked in a hospital for 41 years, we had product and equipment recalls and incorrect results enough times to make me skeptical. I worked in nursing, pharmacy ( I’m anti -drug now), supply chain (recalls, product & equipment evaluation and follow up),distribution, sterilization, environmental services and linen services.
I’m against abortion for any reason. Equipment diagnostic tools fail, drs make errors, etc. I’ve seen things from numerous sides.
I hate drug and vaccine commercials.
I’m pro life, everyone’s life. We are to protect the least of these.
I agree. Abortion is wrong and the innocent baby should not pay the price. There are many cases where women have not aborted a baby conceived by rape and have gone on to feel they were giving a wonderful child. A lot of the attitudes towards abortion are only seeing one side. There can be a wonderful child come even from an evil act. It’s attitude. And yes I wish a woman in this situation could be helped without taking the child. But maybe if they turn to God and see that they can make the best from a horrible situation, more babies will be saved. Also, some say it’s ok to have an abortion up to 15/20 weeks. I say no. That is a well formed child and if you HAVE to do it, I say no more than 10/12 weeks max. I am the person who looked far and wide for a baby I could adopt in America. The people in charge would not let me adopt a baby of color, saying I could not raise it in it’s own culture. All the while these children were stuck in White foster care. So I had to go half way around the world to adopt my baby girl. Twice I did this to have my wonderful children. And the think women use it for birth control is disgusting.
I don’t really see an answer to this problem as long as the attitude is that babies are disposable. Any baby. "(
Extremely well-thought-out and well presented. Excellent suggestions for addressing this important issue in an equitable manner.
Ashley-I agree with your proposal. I have a unique perspective on this issue. I was trained and am Board certified in Obstetrics/Gynecology, and have been for 30 years. I did my residency training at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, LA, as part of Tulane Medical School. At the time, Charity Hospital had a near total ban on elective abortion, which reflected the hospital’s past, as it had been administered by the Sisters of Charity before becoming a state facility. It also reflected the sentiment of the community in New Orleans, which was and is strongly Roman Catholic and pro-life. The elective abortion ban at Charity Hospital did not affect our training or the level of care given at that hospital in any way. We carried on just as any other Ob/Gyn training facility, and had no difficulty performing D&C’s for miscarriage, fallopian tubal surgery for ectopic pregnancy, or any other pregnancy-related condition. In fact, when a pregnant woman had a life-threatening illness such as cervical cancer, we had no difficulty making the decision to end the pregnancy if that was the medical recommendation and the mother’s choice. Further, the training programs at Charity Hospital-New Orleans (Tulane and LSU) were considered very prestigious. Physicians who trained at Charity Hospital were both among the most dedicated and best prepared of all residency graduates.
Finally, the current “crises” claimed to arise from the inability to perform elective abortions were simply unheard of in Charity Hospital. As a result, it is clear to me that the vast majority of these “crises” are nothing more than attempts to manipulate political opinion, and have very little to do with medical reality. I will proudly support your proposal. -William (Rusty) Robinson, MD
I would be more likely to support this as a State’s issue, but I don’t think I would support this as a federal issue. Cheers
Thanks for your consideration. Please also consider that this proposal primarily addresses the extremes in which the states-only approach leaves unaddressed.
