Each item listed on the GRAS (generally recognized as safe list) needs to be reviewed. One could start by seeing of any other country has a band on any ingredients we list as GRAS. This list was created decades ago and it seems food additives get added to it but none get removed even after new health knowledge shows they are not good for our health.
Americas cheese industry used to be healthy but the animal rennets have been replaced by something industry claimed was generally recognized as safe by them and the number of people who are now cheese intolerant has gone up.
We must hold public officials who approve any substance or list of substances personally liable financially and criminally for all damages or death resulting from their use!

All GRAS items shall be reviewed in an ongoing cycle. This review shall include updated, long-term studies as well as verification that the item has not been banned by any nation other than for religious purposes
This is probably the most important thing we could do—not only review but also remove the hazardous additives in our foods. Since 1958, when the Food Additives Amendment legislated the concept of “Generally Recognized As Safe” (GRAS), we’ve been adding chemicals to our foods, beauty products, over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and more. The government used to monitor the safety of these products. At some point, however, we changed the system so that the manufacturers and distributors of food products are the ones responsible for determining whether the additives are safe or not, despite any scientific evidence showing they’re unsafe. There is plenty of science demonstrating that many of our additives are detrimental to our health. Why can’t we get them out of our system? Because of GRAS, which allows companies to self-certify additives as safe, we have legislated our own poor health outcomes.
