Restrict Rent increases

One of the struggles renters face is the annual rent increases that exceed wage increases, forcing lower income families to relocate every two to three years.

Moving is a financial burden that takes lower income families up to a year to recover from. It is a vicious cycle that keeps low wage earners poor and locked into the rent cycle.

A move is widely accepted as a major life event. Families that move frequently, cannot provide a stable home for their children, who really need that stability. Often these moves uproot them from their schools as well. Children and adults who have no sense of community will be far more likely to offend.

Therefore it is in the best interest of all Americans to end this cycle of trauma through legislation that limits rent increases, both monetarily and incrementally.
