Restore the Militia

“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” -

If you read the text of US’ Constitution it is very clear that there should not be a standing military, such as the army. Armies may be called for not longer than two years is what the text says. There are provisions for something like the Navy, more like the Coast Guard.

We should recognize the Constitution requires other arrangements. What is sensible in light of what it provides is more like the Swiss. As such it’d be worth studying the Swiss model for their militia. We should adopt that, and encourage all nations that they do the same.

This encourages everyone be well prepared and well organized, and at the same time is the greatest deterrent, and thus cause for peace. Their simple practice gives power to the people, and means they’re prepared if there is a need for there to be conscription where such is needed.

Such a militia not being military by definition, has advantages, as it means there’s folks who are prepared to help out when it is needed. So for example, with natural disasters such as hurricanes, people have practiced and know who their neighbors are and how to help them. It isn’t top down, rather co-operative, and community.

It would be amazing if the military, during “times of peace” (which could be if it wasn’t actively seeking war) would prioritize helping the population become fit and healthy.

It’s worth pointing out that unhealthy lifestyles and absence of fitness has statistically killed more than any war or terrorist group.

So, it’s not like there is not a real, tangible threat. There is. It’s just that the solution doesn’t involve killing, but training and supporting.

And it’s well observed that a healthier population reduces healthcare costs, and improves productivity and economic prosperity; not to mention it’s just simply a healthier and more vibrant population.

Perhaps worth mention are ‘martial arts’ practices such as from Asia. In such traditions, people learn skillful wisdom that has been passed on. There is pervasive benefits to such practice and community. One advantage is it can give healthy outlets for some aggression, directing feelings such as youthful energy in constructive ways. Many teach respect, such as bowing to yourself and other people.

This reminds me of a story I heard about Chinese tradition. Before the Maoists, there was pervasive practice of martial arts forms. There was a wide range of traditions that evolved across the country.

The local masters formed schools that worked with others to keep people safe, including healthy, through traditional wisdom carefully passed on. The martial arts schools would practice with their neighbors, integrating styles, and ultimately learning to work together.

Some of the schools were like local nobility and could tame people who might be street thugs or participat in gangs, in sensible ways.

Sparring with neighbors at local competition they’d learn others’ forms. If it were needed, it meant they’d work together better through practice. Thus if there was need locals could repulse foreign influence / forces.

There was a wide range of exercise traditions, not only fighting, but also ‘soft’ forms, like those of Tai Chi, or Qi Gong, and other methods. I have heard it said that there were thousands of forms of Qi Gong practice. I met a teacher who’d followed a Qi Gong school, because he was sick - he found it helped him to restore physical health when medicine couldn’t. There are amazing traditions of great wisdom that we could learn from.

One great tragedy is that of the Falun Gong and their tradition. A story I heard from someone who was Chinese was how it happened. The Maoist leaders decided to study the martial traditions, and energy forms, to find out which had merit, and what they could use. The Maoists gathered what they could from the locals, so that they could make their own ‘tradition’ that was a hybrid. They subsequently decided to not favor the old traditions, and instead focused on supporting Falun Gong instead of local, traditional skills that had evolved all over in various ways. After that happened, and the old traditions waned, it was decided that the Falun Gong could become too powerful, so it was stopped too.

There’s great potential in learning from various wisdom traditions, forming local groups, such as the founding fathers may have intended. We’re also able to learn from world history to better our lives - in beneficial ways that also help others, all at the same time.

We do have militias, but by other names. I don’t see having the government " oversee" a state sponsored militia is a good idea.

It would be great if they focused on deporting illegals right now.

Under the 2A, this is a state issue. The federal government has no authority to regulate militias in any way.

Each state should have a U.S. military-level ability to train, acquire arms, and deploy within its borders.

Yes, I can agree with that.

After everything you Wrote, you still don’t seem to understand that the Militia IS…

It just Exists, it is NOT dependent upon Government at all, and cannot be made ““Illegal””, just because some Legislator thinks it’s ““Dangerous””, or in truth, just happens to be jealous of the members for whatever reason…

The Militia is You, your Sons, and Fathers and Friends and neighbors and every Able Bodied MALE you see in your Daily Life, it just IS, and is not at all dependent upon ““Authority”” to exist…

I really wish others could see the Truth of this…

Here’s a video interview with Swiss people about their gun laws - https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=FQ1vEo1x9qE

“I ask, sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people, except for few public officials.”
