The United States has one facility that produces amoxicillin, a crucial antibiotic for curtailing a wide variety of infections. That facility is USAntibiotics (https://us-antibiotics.com/), and it is located in Bristol, Tennessee.
For the last three years, this facility - which has the capability to produce and store the nation’s entire strategic reserve - has managed to stay in business despite the fact the U.S. government has balked at purchasing antibiotics made by American workers in an American factory, opting instead to purchase antibiotics from foreign countries, including China. You can read the story of USAntibiotics here:
While Big Pharma rakes in cash hand over fist by producing name-brand drugs, profit margins in the generic drug market are razor thin. Over the past 20 years, China and India have established a monopoly on the market, which leaves our citizens at the mercy of pills that are produced in facilities that can only be inspected by the FDA with 3-6 months notice. U.S. Congresswoman Diana Harshbarger, a Republican representing Tennessee’s first district, put it bluntly: China can defeat us without ever dropping a bomb. All they have to do is cut our supply of antibiotics.
If we are going to Make America Healthy Again, securing our one source of domestically produced amoxicillin is a fantastic place to start.
