The Tariff Act of 1930, 19 U.S.C. §§ 1202-1681b requires items imported into the United States to disclose the item’s country of origin. This information is not available in on-line stores. As the “ultimate purchaser”, you do not know the country of origin for products purchased on-line until you receive the product. This defeats the purpose of the original law. Citizens do not have the option to select products based on origin. Citizens may be purchasing products from countries they do not support or trust.
We should require all on-line retailers comply with the country of origin law by prominently labeling the country of origin prominently in their product description . This should satisfy the original intent of the law, allowing citizens to make purchasing decisions based on their personal desires. This should also highlight products made in the USA
