The American consumer is being fooled by the foreign owned meat packing companies. Beef can be imported from foreign countries, be processed here in the USA and labeled as “Product of the USA”.
This is because our Government gave in to the WTO and sold out our farmers and ranchers. The WTO determined it was an unfair trade practice to label meat originated in the USA as a Product of the USA. They threatened tariffs on California wine if the USA did not comply.
Since when does the world get to tell us that our own products grown and produced in the USA can not be labeled as grown and produced in the USA? Complete bullshit that needs to be revered on day one of the new administration.

Robert, It’s not about me or you. It’s the working class family that shops at Walmart, Hy-Vee, Publix, Sam’s, Krogers, etc. It’s criminal to fool them on where their food comes from.
Also, this trade practice puts the American rancher and feedlot owner at a disadvantage to allow his foreign competitors to be labeled as a Product of the USA when it’s not.
For the record I have freezers full of beef from the family farm.
But also, it’s illegal for the local farmer to sell individual processed beef to the consumer in most areas, certainly across state lines without being stamped by the USDA. Which is a separate issue.
