More specifically, return the selection of Senators back to the States where it belongs! Give the power back to the Governors and State Legislators. This will encourage people to become more active in local politics and better balance the powers of the Republic.
Our founding fathers knew that the masses could be easily swayed and blissfully unaware of the real consequences of governance. Since the adoption of the 17th amendment, we have lost our identity as a Republic and created a steady march toward a National Democracy. The very thing the framers feared.
The Senate was supposed to be a representation for the State, while the House was of the people. Only through repealing the 17th can we hope to reignite our Republic. Great Governors like DeSantis deserve a return of the power to the State and a weakening of the hold of the Federal Government and the “Princes and Princesses” of the Senate.
We need that check and balance back. Empower the Republic, repeal 17!
