The original intent of our republic was to give states an equal share and say. The passing of the 17th Amendment ripped the states voice out of the halls of the federal government. By repealing the 17th Amendment, we can restore the balance of power between the states and federal government. By repeal, we can go back to the original intent of the constitution where the state’s governor will appoint a prospective senator, where confirmation to the senate will come from the state legislatures. This will restore a balance in power in the American political system, appoint senators that are more in tune with the states voters, and bring a greater focus to state politics.
