Rental prices are so expensive that most of us can barely qualify for what little housing is available in the market. People should not have to make 3 times the rent to put a roof over their heads. Not many of us make that kind of money these days. And there should be guidelines out in place based on the value of the property and other factors that determine what the home can rent for. I’m all for landlords making a reasonable profit but many of them are just being greedy with rediculous rent prices because they know we don’t have a choice.

This is true in most of the liberal cesspools but you always have to consider the size of the owner’s investment. A decent return on every $100k invested in a home is $1,000 per month, plus taxes and insurance. Most landlords in flyover country aren’t getting anywhere near that. Base this formula on the prices of homes in your part of the US and see it they are too high’
