As someone with Hashimotos and an extreme allergy to soy I think “vegetable oils” need to be labeled what they are which is soybean oil. No matter what store you go to if you look on the back of a bottle of vegetable oil it will list in the ingredients “soybean oil” as the only ingredient.
Soybeans (edamame) is a legume and is a cheap easy to grow crop. They are toxic when raw but processed they have been deemed safe to eat. So they are mass produced and used in the place of many things that would cost more money to grow and process.
What is worse is that many companies who process the food do not disclose that there is soy in their food if they put down that there is vegetable oil in it.
I propose that we make sure that these companies are not allowed to call their product a vegetable oil unless it actually is a blend of vegetables.
Vegetable oil made from soybeans should be called what it is soybean oil and not hidden by deceptive food companies.
