Former government officials retain their security clearances after leaving office. These clearances should be canceled upon leaving office. Former officials have been known to use their security clearances after office to sell citizens’ information for personal gain and engage in other nefarious activities. They no longer need these clearances if they are not working in a public office.

I agree with this 100%. When you retire or change jobs in the real world, it’s over. You don’t keep the keys to the building of an office you no longer work in. And not only if no longer in public office…in the office which holds the actual security clearance. If you change jobs, your security ends and is revoked. If your new job needs security clearances they must be reappoved/reassigned in relation to the new positon you now hold.

Security clearances should be revoked after leaving the govt or agency, because they likely be hired by corporate news to become a walking library of what’s going on behind the curtain. Corporate media demands sensational news.
