Remove manditory car insurance

Remove mandatory car insurance, it will drastically lower the prices. Americans are forced to buy a product. This is coercion, currently most auto insurance policies offer uninsured motorist coverage, why should others pay for this. Only insure yourself and not others. Forcing Americans to buy a private goods or services should be illegal. I see a lot of comments on rates going up. You will only insure yourself if you want. Ultimately the rates will go down, the insurance companies all work together and price fix because they know you must have it. Insurance companies will be less likely to overcharge if they know you can tell them to shove it. The rates will stay low to attract willing customers, and not coerced customers. Similar to what happened when health insurance was mandated, the prices when through the roof. Once the mandate policy was lifted, prices dropped.

I agree. Forcing car insurance or ANY insurance, for that matter, on We the People allows the insurance companies to charge higher prices and look how expensive car insurance is now too. People can’t even afford to own a car now since the insurance is so high.

With increasing rate of foreigners driving (they may or may not have license or know rules of the road, and many do NOT have insurance). The rate of accidents is going up, as is the rate of uninsured drivers- leaving those with insurance paying more. But if no one has insurance, and no one can afford to pay for repairs, then you will be stuck driving a beater car or worse, it will be inoperable.

The insurance industries (auto, health, homeowners) definitely need to be revamped. What worked 30-50 years ago is not working now, where those who follow the rules (drive safely, keep healthy, maintain their homes) are paying a higher price for those who don’t.

That is not a good idea at all. That means when someone hits my car because they were texting and driving or whatever, I am out of pocket to repair my car for the other persons mistake.

Might not be able to afford to own a car at all soon due to the highest ever insurance rates. I see your point too. Maybe they are making us pay for all the illegals

I am a retired single nurse, who lives on a small SS check, no husband, and I cannot afford insurance on my home, car or life. My handicapped brother is dying of cancer and I’m afraid to travel on the highways to go see him. He has cerebral palsy and needs me by his side. It’s a sad story. And speaking of healthcare, handicapped adults like my brother are on the bottom of the list for any type of government help. MAHA MAGA:heart::us::v:

Uninsured motorist coverage is insurance for yourself, not an uninsured motorist. It helps with things like medical expenses or sometimes vehicle damage resulting from an accident caused by an uninsured driver who doesn’t have the assets to pay damages. If drivers are no longer required to have insurance, then it is quite possible that car insurance rates go up because the likelihood of an insured driver being in an accident with an uninsured driver and having to pay out goes up. In short, relying on another driver to maintain uninsured motorist coverage and expecting it to kick in on an accident you caused while uninsured is expecting others to pay the consequences of your actions and your refusal to pay for insurance. And in a bad accident that cost could be hundreds of thousands of dollars if not more.

This is not logical. What if you are in a really bad accident and are hurt to the level where you can no longer work. The car that hit you is driven by a low income, uninsured driver. You would live in poverty for the rest of your life. It is important that we protect each other from events that happen 1000’s of times on a daily basis. A car accident isn’t like being struck by lighting.

I’m sorry but no, my premium should not go up because you decided not to pay.

Car Insurance requirements are determined by the state. Federal government is not and should not be involved.
