Remove DEF (diesel) requirements for passenger vehicles and light trucks

Remove the ridiculous requirement of DEF systems requirements for Diesel fueled vehicles and allow passenger vehicles to be produced without needing them. Diesel fuel is the cleanest burning and highest MPG fuel source. Multiple technologies exist that don not require overly expensive, and complicated urea based filtration systems that make diesel engines incompatible within the US markets, and force Manufactures to make larger engines to comply with current EPA regulations. Small Diesel engines, and 2 stroke engine technology would create a massive upswing in both diesel fueled affordable vehicles, with less overall maintenance costs, and allow for the creation of Diesel generated-hybrid electric motor vehicles.

I have always wondered how the def system works, because when the collector gets full it goes in a regeneration process where it gets really hot sprays a liquid into the collector to clean it. Well all the stuff it had been collecting gets released back into the atmosphere at that time. I guess it only counts during testing?
