Release Fannie Mae And Freddie Mac

End the fraudulent “temporary” conservatorship of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac created in 2008. The government forced them to take a “bailout” of $187 billion. This was used to buy bad mortgage held by TBTF banks. Fannie and Freddie have repaid the government $301 billion. The government claims it’s still owed $193 billion. If any business were to make such claims, they would be rightly charged with racketeering.
My recommendation is to void the Senior Preferred Stock Purchase Agreements signed by two self-serving government agencies, FHFA and US Treasury.

Treasury should stick to its agreement with Fannie and Freddie and chart a path for them to exit conservatorship by restructuring its equity position to enable them to raise 3rd party capital

USG must end the fraudulent CON-ship now!
FNF never needed to be rescued; instead, they rescued the banks.
Government stole more than enough.

Don’t forget the ridiculous net worth sweep that was going on for years as well.

US treasury is the majority shareholder of FNF. Wiping off minority common and preferred shareholders is a breach of good faith and fair dealing.

Government does not own shares, only warrants.

For decades, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were the go-to investments for thousands upon thousands of mom and pop investors for their future retirements. Both were put into conservatorships in 2008, became filly profitable in 2013, and have never been released from government control as of this date. Combined, they make billions of dollars in net profit each quarter but their shares prices remain barely above $1, with no dividends having been paid to equity holders since 2008. The situation is well beyond ridiculous.

This needs to happen! Trump said he would have done this if he got a second term, so let’s hope it happens this time to benefit housing!

This would be a major accomplishment of the new Trump administration if they are able to pull this off! The GSE’s need to be released!

I agree with this! They have been in conservatorship for SIXTEEN years and we have had enough!

The court said the government was guilty last year. It was a unanimous decision. This is a GREAT proposal!

End the insanity, and release the GSEs from Conservatorship. David Stevens would be proud.

The only rightful outcome of this 16-year saga is to release Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac from conservatorship, cancel the governments senior preferred stock agreement, and cancel their warrants. The government has already been paid back far in excess of what the companies were given by the government, and they are among the most profitable companies in the world. Any outcome other than this is highway robbery, and the United States is better than these 3rd world policies.
