Realistically the Smith Mundt act was outdated and HR5736 was designed to modernise it somewhat. In practice however, it simply allowed the internet to be used for propaganda even though it is visible to US citizens. We must create restrictions on the communication by our government and the ability of our government to influence domestic communications including internet communication. No matter what party is in power we must forbid their control, directly or indirectly over media in any way shape or form and ensure and enshrine the Freedom of the Press.
