Go into prisons and truly rehabilitate people and set up pathways. Meaning for those who qualify for certain programs they can be trained and earn a living for when they get out. They can learn how to be a contributing member of society while they’re IN prison and BEFORE they get out. Consult with best practices for successful programs like ROD Ministries (rodministries.org) whose programs have a 70% success rate. SO much talent and giftedness is locked up in prisons under trauma from growing up in generational trauma. Once some is rehabilitated, they are amazing members of society. ROD Ministies is a beautiful picture of what happens when these men are transformed.

I would like to see records expunged once time and parole has been served. No one can get a “fresh start” with a record hanging over their head.

Eliminate overcrowding of prisons housing non-violent offenders with 12 hour inside and 12 hours working outside on local labor type jobs - construction, painting, carpentry, etc . They do this in the military on submarines (a.k.a. Hot racking). Train and teach skills that can allow inmates to be placed in job programs to develop the skills to be successful after they have served their time. Create a certification program that can be used for the trades, similar to a college degree.
