Reform the adoption process and make it more affordable for families

There are tons of children in the United States currently awaiting adoption. Not all of these children are in Child Protective Services. My husband and I adopted a child that was initially in CPS as a baby. She was reunified with her biological father and her mother was in prison serving a long term sentence. Her father unexpectedly passed away and named my husband and I as who he wanted to raise her. It took four years to finalize the adoption and over $17,000. There would be much less homeless children if the adoption process was more streamlined and if there was ways to make it more affordable. People can go to states that abortions are legal and get them easier and cheaper than a family can adopt a child.
