Reform Social Safety Net

The current system is punitive and promotes oppression of the disadvantaged. We have societal obligation to lift people up and provide them a means to become self sufficient.

Example, a single mom attempting to rise above their circumstances by working, sometimes multiple jobs, to provide for their families are punished if their incomes exceed the maximum allowed in order to receive healthcare, food stamps, or subsidized housing. Often by taking 100% of their benefits away.,

A fairer and uplifting system would prorate the reduction. If the person exceeds the maximum income by 5% then only reduce the benefit by 2.5% and raise the maximum cutoff by 2.5%. Continue that until government support is no longer needed. Eventually an individual willing to work hard will become self sufficient.

Also, get the dad back into the home without punishing the mother or children. He must have a job. His income could be used in the above calculation to help them all achieve self sufficiency.

It’s a 100% winning proposition and will end 60 years of intentional punitive oppression and will reduce the reliance upon government assistance. Plus instilling self esteem and sense of accomplishment to millions of Americans cauught inns punitive system intentionally designed to keep people oppressed.
