Reduce College Tuition

There is an issue in America that tuitions are too high and constantly increasing. I believe a big contributor is bank loan access, if I wanted to start a business and went and asked the bank for $10k I would probably get denied. But if I ask for a $100k to go to college I probably would be accepted.

Because colleges know that you can get access to a large amount of capital for tuition they have a high price. I think this would do one of two things.

  1. colleges decrease the price since there’s a limit on the college loan amount and they want more students = $$.

  2. Colleges don’t decrease the price, making degrees more valuable. Could result in more people going to trade school which is needed.

I agree that tuition is ridiculously high. That coupled with the requirement of 4 years of English and Math when most students have just graduated from high schools that have the same requirements. Higher education should reevaluate and focus on the core curriculum dedicated to the degree being pursued.

I think Colleges really need to revisit how degrees work. It doesn’t make sense to me that every single topic the standard is 4 years of schooling to get a bachelors. If the degree doesn’t really justify 4 years they just make students take largely meaningless classes to make it fit. Bachelor degrees should differ in length depending on the topic. Simple business degrees should really only take 1-2 years, an engineering degree should take all 4 years.

Basically we need to reform how long people are going to college, it would save everyone a lot of time and students a lot of money.
