To allow parents to choose their children’s education rather that be public, private or homeschooling and having the funds that go to public school follow that child in whatever choose the parent chooses.

Excellent Idea! with three children One public school, two home schooled the extra money would have made life soooo much easier! I had to rotate with my wife so someone was always home. I worked nights she worked days.

I was coming here to write this policy. But I was going to take it a step further & call for Complete Privatization of Schools. Abolish public schools altogether. There should be x # of dollars allocated to each child for lower education. The family chooses which school (or homeschool) they would like their child to go to. The only involvement from the government is providing the funds that will go to the school of choice. There would be minimal requirements for a school to be eligible for funding:

  1. The Pledge of Allegiance be recited every morning.
  2. Some sort of confirmation that children are meeting minimal education requirements (eg standardized tests)

Additionally, there could be a certain amount of funds that can go to transportation costs for each child.

This will end the debates of what should & should not be discussed in schools, what flags can be in the school, etc. You send your child to a school that aligns with your values. Debate over. It will no longer be an election talking point.

This will all inevitably raise the bar of education via inherent competition that comes with private business. Schools that provide better education will become higher in demand & will grow as more & more children choose to go there.

All federal or state dollars should follow the student to their source of education (be it private, charter, or homeschool) that honors the Trump Administration’s education policies. This is especially important in BLUE states where public education is indoctrinating students (Oregon!). These dollars must have only the minimum requirements to ensure the freedom of the parent has the right to educate their children in a manner that reflects the constitution of the United States of America. Private institutions currently refrain from government assistance because of the moral imposition it would require. This has made cost of education extremely high, and many who would desire private education (especially in states like Oregon) have not been able to afford it.

At a minimum, a parent sending a child to a private school should get the amount of the tuition back in the form of a tax credit. Alternatively, provide vouchers.
