Public access to publicly funded material

There should be no-cost public online access to materials that are developed from public funds. Specifically this should include:

  • Research Papers
  • Medical Research
  • Government Records
  • Federal, State, and local laws, codes, and regulations
  • Building codes (electrical, plumbing, etc)

Sounds good to me. I would also say that any protected IP (e.g., patents) generated with tax money should be licensed to American citizens but not foreigners.

Foreign governments would of course be encouraged to do the same thing if they’re funding research.
