Protect the right for remote work when the work can be done remotely

For any job that can be effectively done remotely, the people should be allowed to have more freedom choosing what’s the best location and time to do their jobs.

Some benefits I can think of including:

  1. Giving hard working Americans more time back for their own lives. People don’t have to spend so much time commuting daily for hours. They can use more time to study, rest or care for families.
  2. Easing the pressure on the infrastructure of major metropolitan areas. Less people having to work in limited locations means the traffic will be a lot better for workers whose job has to be done at the assigned location. When people don’t have to live in commute distance from downtown area, they have more options around the country where housing is more affordable. And for people who stays, the cost of living is also going to be lower due to less demand.
  3. Flexibility to care for next generation, new parents usually have to spend much time caring for their new babies, it’s much easier for them to do this when both parents can work from home and use less busy time to help with each other.
  4. Stimulating local economy. As people moving into smaller towns, they can spend more in the neighborhood they actually live in and support the small businesses in town. Furthermore, they all the smaller service providers get to serve more people they will also contribute to the profit of larger companies and energize the economy of the whole country.
  5. Less energy cost and emission due to daily commute. Which also means less space needed for parking in the cities, the spaces can be repurposed for new businesses.

Let’s throw in a right to take college courses online or as evening courses, especially for students who are caregivers or who work at least 32 hours per week.
