Proposal for Infertility Treatment Coverage: IVF, Surrogacy, and Adoption

This proposal advocates for a nationwide policy that would provide comprehensive coverage for infertility treatments, including in vitro fertilization (IVF), surrogacy, and adoption, for all individuals and couples struggling with infertility.

Infertility affects millions of Americans, and the reasons for infertility vary widely. Whether due to medical treatments like chemotherapy, health conditions, age, or unexplained factors, infertility is a deeply personal and often difficult challenge. While there are medical options like IVF, surrogacy, and adoption available to help individuals and couples build families, these options are often prohibitively expensive.

The financial burden associated with infertility treatments can prevent many people from accessing the care they need, which compounds the emotional and physical toll of infertility. Expanding healthcare coverage to include IVF, surrogacy, and adoption would help remove this financial barrier, providing equitable access to these family-building options for everyone, regardless of their circumstances.

Key benefits of this policy include:
1. Equitable Access: Ensuring that all individuals and couples facing infertility, regardless of the cause, can access fertility treatments, including IVF, surrogacy, and adoption, without being limited by financial constraints.
2. Support for Diverse Family Building: Acknowledging and supporting the diverse paths to parenthood, from medical interventions to adoption, and ensuring these options are accessible to all.
3. Emotional and Financial Relief: Alleviating the financial burden that many individuals and couples experience when seeking infertility treatments, thus supporting their emotional and physical well-being.
4. Health and Family Well-Being: Supporting the health and well-being of individuals and families by providing access to the necessary treatments for those facing infertility.

By implementing this policy, the government would be demonstrating a commitment to inclusivity and compassion for all Americans, regardless of the reasons behind their infertility. The policy would allow more individuals and couples to pursue their dreams of building a family without the added burden of financial strain.

Help with adoption should also include families that maybe aren’t struggling with infertility but want to adopt. It should not cost a fortune to adopt a baby, child or teen.
