Prison/Prisoner Reform

Hello:

First and foremost, I am thankful for you and your time. Below are some thoughts and information I wanted to present in the potential of “prison reform” due to crime rates.

Some information:
“In the United States, around 67.8 percent of criminals were arrested again within 3 years of release. The research involved 404,638 convicts in 30 states. Around 76.6 percent of the prisoners were rearrested within 5 years of release, and approximately 56.7 got arrested again within 1 year of being released.”.

Seemingly, via these stats, criminals have a high rate of repeat illegal behavior as the years progress. Maybe instead of having sentences for just the crime, possibly having a “prisoner reform” attached as well. During their time in prison, people can monitor the activity, behaviors, and other elements that can be evaluated to determine the level of reform that individual has bloomed into - if any. Various unaffiliated and unbiased evaluations can be happening before release to determine if the offender is truly ready for release or if that individual has a high probability to go back out and commit crimes; possibly leading to continued incarceration. Some people may just want to lead a life of crime - should that allow them to remain being released to harm the country more? (rhetorical)

If released, there could be a 5-year watch program that helps the prisoners back into life outside of jail. Helping guide them into employment, housing, and the like to try to help reduce the potential of more crime.

Gratitude into your roads.

Prison reform definitely needed . There are many options hard labor actual real punishment. More bigger factories build in prison grounds . More trustee programs to re introduce to society. I liked Ron de Santos using prisoners to help in the hurricane aftermath smart man.
Like you say some just choose a life of crime and will forever be in a cycle . Interesting proposal hope you get momentum

Hello:

Appreciate the response. Getting prisoners out and helping society could revigorate their desire to be better people - while in prison.

I volunteered with a College Guild: “Our mission is to provide free correspondence courses that connect incarcerated people with a community beyond prison walls, fostering mutual respect through a shared passion for learning. Research has shown that incarcerated people who have participated in prison education programs have a 50%-reduced chance of returning to prison.”.

Attacking the issues, in many fronts like you mentioned with DeSantis, can help reduce issues and more crime when prisoners get out.
