We’re all aware of the current and ongoing issue of school shootings and the impact it has on communities. I propose the government gives funding to mechanical engineering shops to build metal detectors for schools that don’t have any which would create more jobs with the increased work load. Furthermore if you hire veterans who are looking for work as extra security in schools and place them by the entrances you’d prevent a shooting saving lives of innocent children and teachers.

Way to think outside of the box. Engineers could build an open-source metal detector that could me put together using common parts and 3d prints.
