postal privatization/reform is a farce so lets do something else

simple fact of the matter is unless you have worked for the US postal service, none of you will ever understand it or be able to offer valid solutions to fix its many manager induced problems. so im not going to waste space trying to explain it all, because even if i did, you would never believe or understand it because it doesnt operate under the rules of the real world.

for instance, if a manager at walmart got caught committing major time card fraud, they would be fired. but in the post office, both she and her accomplice were were offered their jobs back with a few added limitations once the OIG investigation was over.

or when you have a supervisor with 3-4 “letters of removal” several “official discussions” several complaints for sexual harassment , and suspensions, a normal company would fire them, but thats not how it works at the USPS, NOPE, THEY JUST TRANSFER HIM SO HE CAN MAKE SOME ONE ELSE MISERABLE.

and then there is that constant squeeze as managers will under staff positions to get higher bonuses, and just leave the staff to deal with the angry customers that the under staffing effects, while they sit in their office and watch it all on CCTV.

but hey, lets talk about a way to expand and better use the post office.

the idea of doing the census is good, but would also require the REHIRING of carriers, because while they SAY they do every door every day, they dont. they do every CLUSTER BOX every day, unless, like many, the cluster box has been broken into, leaving the customers information at risk of identity theft. so please DO hire more carriers, and actually get back to EVERY DOOR EVERY DAY.

and as a secondary advantage, the addition of more carriers, would make it super simple gut FEMA and fold it into the USPS. with a full carrier force, it would mean boots on the ground when disaster happens so there would be people who know where all the residents are, and can access the damage to the area. bringing over a handful of FEMA staff that specialize and run the special systems while postal staff manage the logistics of storing and shipping supplies, using shut down postal facilities to store the emergency supplies, and the army corp of engineers can instruct the national guard on cleanup and repair in effected areas.
