We also need to get back to censoring sex scenes in movies. Once upon a time, an adult had to pay for a movie that showed revealing and graphic sex scenes. Now they are everywhere and children can easily see them on any media outlet. This is what is wrong with this culture, the “sex sells” ideology, sending conscious and subliminal messages to young people of promiscuous behavior and sex. They are grooming our children to be slaves to a sexual lifestyle. Ban all pornography in ALL forms, whether it’s a whole movie geared towards porn or just one very graphic sex scene. Ban it all. Protect our children’s minds.
There are studies that do support this. It is harmful to men
Not to mention that it can lead to addiction. It’s just like any other drug. It leads to more and even worse forms of pornography. including child pornography. Some sex offenders are not pedophiles but suffer from a pornography addiction.
Giving the government more power is ALWAYS a bad choice and will lead to worse results and less rights remember prohibition, remember the war on drugs, remember the war on terror this is a societal and parental issue not a legal issue
Let’s find a way to ban free porn sites. This will fix the issue for the majority of men. Then let’s tax money made from porn at a higher rate like we do for cigarettes. I don’t think we can ban porn outright, but we can try to ban free porn. I suggest ensuring each site has a signed consent form and a waiver from every actor on the site. For each scene that does not have a signed consent, it’s a 10,000-dollar fine.
Pornography isn’t the problem. Just as alcohol, gambling, drugs, etc. are not the problem. Addiction is the problem.
Prohibiting adults from partaking in private activities will only restrict their freedoms and government overreach is not a path we should encourage.
Most opponents of pornography only consider negative aspects of it. What about men and women who struggle with arousal as they age? Or frustrated partners who might turn to affairs or prostitutes rather than watching porn?
My personal experience with porn taught me everything about sex and doesn’t affect my wonderful and faithful 28 year marriage.
Not necessary.
1st amendment
I know, you’re right. you have to take the good and the bad under it. we can’t pick and choose. I just know it is inherantly bad
This is the job of each state, not the federal government.
While I don’t agree that there should be a governmental ban on porn I think that mandating that all porn online must move to a .xxx suffix so that families and business can more readily control access from within their networks. The government is not supposed to control peoples lives, but should help people who choose to protect themselves.
I think making url’s contain a distinct extension, as .xxx, is a good idea. to assist in helping parents, schools, business. Etc., block it,
BUT…
PLEASE do not go down the slope to age verification online as that is the gateway to digital ID and that’s s big HECK NO!
I agree its very damaging to men, BUT also women. I think that it would be great to be banned. I personaly feel sexual violance, in all forms are rooted in pornography exposure.
Is this Russia? Is this Nazzi Germany? Is this Iran? Is this Saudi Arabia?
We banned smoking in resturants…
At least require photo ID just like for tobacco. and no FREE online porn without registration requiring photo ID
yes! this also affects women and has caused a huge psychological expectation that sex is often aggressive. I recognize some benefits of porn but overall I believe we need to make additional limitations around more traumatic and degrading porns. I think removing it from the internet is a healthy start, I think shutting down agencies that are known for the most dehumanizing porn is mandatory. I think licenses must be obtained and regularly(annually) evaluated to insure what porn we do allow is consensual, appreciative, and realistic. 3 or 4 safe companies is really all we need. Americans should only able to purchase in person, at the discretion of the state, like MMJ and Abortions, some states can choose to not offer physical locations at all. I recognize the digital boom and therefore the store can sell digital copies or physical but removing it from the free internet is essential. absolutely no at will or amateur porn to be accepted is essential. removing Only Fans and other independent sites will give our girls back to us and help free women from the porn trauma that surrounds us today.
Impossible to ban, and you should mind your own business.
well we repealed alcohol, gambling is limited, drugs are classified, and addiction is a much much more wild concept then it appears to be. if we are addicted to something positive no one cares – no one is kicking men out of the gym for 6 hr daily weight lifting but bars will kick you out if you have been drinking for 6 hrs non stop.
porn industry is only regulated by age and nothing else. The violence and trauma that is video taped and shared widely should be regulated. There are hundreds of women who regret their inclusion in the industry and want the videos removed but they are completely powerless and 9 out of 10 times they were only paid one time despite the production company making money indefinitely….
you’ve been married for 28 years, I can say in the last 8 years with the OF boom porn has changed widely. post STESTA/FOSTA the industry has changed. A complete ban would create some chaos, yes but restrictions can save the lives of so many great young people and it would likely increase birth rates because people aren’t being auto-sexual. Please check out my ideas in the reply below.
Let’s just not partake if we dont like something and not try to take away more freedom from other people. Less rules, not more.
I don’t see how pornography could be made illegal - and enforced - without a lot of very bad side effects.
yes, do regulate it.
yes, do protect minors.
yes, do protect the actors in pornographic material
work on root causes - teach men how to have good relationships with women. overcome the isolation of many individuals from which so many suffer - which is a very big issue. walkable cities, smart use of the commons, facilitate help between neighbours, create spaces between “completely private” and “completely public”, strenghthen extended families… work on such issues, eventually less men will feel drawn to pornography in such unhealthy and extreme ways.
