Pipeline for water

Lay a pipeline to transport water across America as needed—especially in times of emergency. Is it flooding in Louisiana, but a drought in California? Move the water. Pipelines are already laid across the country, so negotiating property rights and things of that nature are already taken care of. Would create construction jobs. I had always ideally felt this would be a privatized endeavor, but whatever it takes to help our nation in emergencies…

Good idea. Mississippi River would flood almost every year if it weren’t for flood protection channelization. When the channelization does not work we have substantial flooding.

We should monitor conditions and move at least some excess water off via purpose built flood canals to other states where it will do good. Perhaps even create a lake or otherwise green land.

Tldr: monitor Mississippi River water level and regularly move water when necessary elsewhere.

So we’ll add it

See, problem solved and Cali cant stop stuff from happening to protect invasive species like delta smelts

I agree! I thought of something similar. I wanted to have a pipeline built from Houston to Lake Powell or Lake Mead. Houston has heavy rainstorms quite often and they need water badly at Lake Powell. Even at Flagstaff, Arizona during the summer monsoon season people there have to deal with floods and Lake Mead and Lake Powell are not too faraway so if they could divert that water to one of the lakes it would be nice.
