Physical education and nutrition brought back into public schools

Pretty straight forward as to what I feel should be a no brainer ! When I was growing up we had physical education and outside time , as well as nutrition courses that were offered as electives- I believe these two topics are not being brought up enough , if at all? They have been eliminated, almost entirely throughout the US public school systems only adds to the unhealthy population! Children should be educated on nutrition throughout k—12 and should most certainly have more outside time and physical education.

I have advocated for nutrition education K-12 since 1989. I taught middle school and high school home economics, including nutrition, growing food, food preparation, and many other topics that were considered unnecessary by school administrators. I created raised vegetable and herb beds in the school courtyard, which had previously been ornamental bushes. My students loved it. They were quite excited to see the seeds they planted turn into food.

Definitely .
If you get rid of the everyone’s a winner rubbish then sports competitions at schools would engage children more. Plus it would set them up for real life add in nutrition and you will have well rounded children.

I would add composting to your garden. The kids would love it!

At a youth camp I worked at for 11 years as camp doctor, we had a class on gardening/farming that gave these kids a taste of how to do it. Very successful.
