Parents tend to save paid time off (PTO) of their jobs for when their children get sick. This used to not be an issue 50 years ago when most mothers didn’t work. Our culture has changed and any caregiver who has a dependent on taxes should earn 5 additional days of PTO on top of what all employees earn.
