Create a policy to identify and prevent food packaging containers for hot food /beverages that melt/spread micro-plastics and/or harmful chemicals into the food/beverages. The containers used for delivery, take out, and/or to-go food to take home should be placed in sustainable packaging containers that do not produce carcinogens when they reach a certain temperature. Food container packaging that stores hot food/beverages should not contain harmful ingredients that are activated if hot food/beverages are placed in them. Some examples of food packaging that should be reviewed under the policy are aluminum foil, styrofoam, and certain types of cardboard packaging (especially if they are lined with plastic).
