Overhaul treatment, testing, insurance coverage for Lyme disease

The testing, treatment and coverage of Lyme disease and coinfections must be overhauled. The CDC creates these policies that are completely outdated and many living with chronic tick borne illness are left to fend for themselves and obtain Lyme literate doctors which are very expensive, the treatments are expensive. There has to be a better way! So many illnesses are actually Lyme disease and coinfections, mental health must be looked at to. I am willing to help in anyway I can.

I am a lyme literate doctor and I totally agree with you on all of this.
But another HUGE problem with this is that the standard tests are so bad for Lyme. One study found that the Elisa, first line test for Lyme, has up to a 66.8% chance of a false negative. Application of Bayesian decision-making to laboratory testing for Lyme disease and comparison with testing for HIV - PubMed. There are better tests our there. There are also treatment options like the herb cryptolepis, which has outperformed antibiotics in studies, but this information is suppressed. We need to get this information out there.

I agree more funding for more accurate testing. Currently the most accurate test is igenix but not covered by insurance. Need accurate testing covered by insurance

Lyme disease took years from me and I’m still battling it! I am told by doctors ‘I don’t do lyme disease’ or ‘you need to phrase your questions about Lyme disease this way because doctors are scared’. I was barely able to get up off the couch by myself at that time and university hospital specialists said these things to me. I’ve been called a drug seeker, that it’s all in my head, that Iowa doesn’t have ticks that cause Lyme disease you must have been in Wisconsin. I mean it’s unbelievable. Lyme disease is complex and needs funding, research and a cure AND doctors and insurance companies need to be held accountable for those patients they treated like trash and for the loans my family (and others) had to take out to try and cover the cost of alternative treatments that I required in order to live a life.

Research - Lyme disease GOF bioweapon - should fall under crime against humanity and mandatory treatments and coverage.
