There is a cave in this area called Manhole Cave. It is near Carlsbad Caverns and Lechiguilla cave. It has great potential in that it has a lot of air which indicates that there may be miles of cave connected to it. Cavers have been digging in the cave under BLM supervision for decades, but have not broke through to the big passage. More recent geophysical data, points to where these underground passages are. Being in a wilderness area greatly handicaps those who want to find those passages. A oil company once offered for free to drill some holes and try to find the passages. They were not allowed to do this because of the wilderness area designation. The BLM has been unwilling to grant exceptions to the wilderness area rules. Try digging with a chisel instead of a drill rig. So I would like this wilderness area to go away to enable modern machinery and exploration methods to be used. This Manhole cave has the potential to be another National Park like Carlsbad Caverns.
I had a long chat with grok3beta AI bot, and this will help to clarify my previous post.
