Reopen timber harvest on Forest Service and BLM ground. Stop the import of overseas timber from Canada and Russia. The horrible forest fires the plague California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Montana every year are mainly a result of poorly managed forests.

State forests that are chronically on fire, like California, should be turned over to the Federal government who can maintain them to prevent what we are seeing in CA right now. There need to be firebreaks, forest floor management, and tree harvesting to keep the forest healthy and manageable. CA doesn’t do it and disasters happen like the current fires burning CA down. They expect Federal funds to help them after the fires. I say in exchange for funds to help, they need to sign over the state forests to the Federal government so that they are maintained. Then the Federal Forest Service needs to be given the manpower, materials and permissions to do their job properly!
