There is no reason to have timezones in 2024. It is the relic of a civilization that was incapable of traversing hundreds of miles within hours.
Timezones are conceptually lazy, arbitrary, and often cause undue confusion. A 5 hour flight from Florida to California should count as 5 hours on a chronometer. Instead, you are left figuring: Landing time = Departure time + 5 hours - 1 hr CST - 1 hr MST - 1 hr PST (?).
Different longitudinal regions would easily be able to identify their local apparent noon and quickly lay out their work day around it. I would also suggest moving universal coordinated time from Greenwich to the continental United States, a line of longitude in which local apparent noon is equal to true noon according to our time system.
Ex: Noon (1200) at Longitude -100 (New US Universal meridian)
Local Noon @ Chicago: 1100
Local Noon @ Boston: 1000
Local Noon @ Vegas: 1300
Local Noon @ Juneau: 1400
Local Noon @ Hawaii: 1600
