Please implement required nutrition courses in school curriculum, especially grades 7-12.
I believe with my whole heart that if our children were “educated” in basic nutrition courses, it would have an impact in the present and future health of our nation.
Nutrition is offered in many high schools, but is not a requirement. It is an elective. Many schools have changed it to culinary arts. It is part of the Family, Consumer Science courses offered (Home Ec). It should be required. Food and your body are all about science/chemistry.
We need it as soon as kids get into school in kindergarten! This is a critical age where they are still developing eye strength among other things. I have started taking fruits and vegetables up to my kids elementary school so that they’re not eating highly processed packaged foods.
I agree, but first we need to fix the flawed medical advice of our current CDC and USDA which has been poisoning us for decades. So this will be a great policy to implement. Once we prove that the nutritional advice that has been given to the American people has been poisonous. Once we know and have it documented what the true healthy nutrition standards should be we can implement them and teach all young Americans how to best make and keep themselves happy and healthy.
Way before I learned about how poisonous our food system was, I was pretty overweight at one point in my life. In college I was required to take a basic nutrition class. After learning how nutrition worked, I went from 185 lbs to 135 lbs in one summer. After that I have always believed that nutrition should be required in school. I hope this is recognized and implemented soon.
