Not so much a policy as needing to look into

Could someone please look into the fact that a truck driver will have to give up his CDL if he is prescribed a pain medication. Even the lowest of doses.
These drivers have endured a lot of strain on different parts of their bodies. If they have to take a low dose medication while off duty or while at home I do not see the issue. Especially if they have a clean MVR, not in the clearinghouse and maintained everything accordingly. Many professionals are allowed to take medications with written orders and not lose certifications, license and etc. Medical professionals are allowed. Athletes are allowed. Law enforcement are allowed. I could go on and on. I do not believe this should be a thing especially for the veteran or upstanding drivers.

While I see your point; anything for a full time driver to make them drowsy like pain meds, or even blood pressure meds like Metoperol could put others lives in danger. I don’t see the harm in allowing if we put mitigations in place, If they are on pain meds, maybe require their specific truck to have lane assist, or some other sensor aids, just incase. Not a full proof system but something that will allow some leeway.
