No more loan forgiveness for government employees. Expand programs for underserved areas to part time employees

Currently government employees enjoy the benefit of having their student loans forgiven if they work for the government for ten years.

Considering they are already paid good salaries and benefits by the taxpayers they should be able to pay back their own loan with their salary rather than having additional tax money go toward paying off the student loan.

I agree there are valid forgiveness programs such as for Veterans who risk and sacrifice beyond what many of us can experience. I also agree that programs for employment in underserved areas as an incentive should continue to receive forgiveness programs. I would add to this that this should apply to both full time and part time positions since the current economy often only offers part time to avoid providing benefits to workers. These programs are usually for healthcare providers and teachers who work in areas that are underserved or struggle socioeconomically.

Currently there are several programs which are intended to recruit high quality college graduates into government service in areas where financially they would be much better off employed in industry. One incentive they use is to pay off the principle student loan in exchange for a specific number of years of service. These special recruiting programs should retain their ability to pay student loans or we will recruit only those unable to perform in industry!

Disagree. Loan forgiveness after 10 years. But everyone is ok with this loan forgiveness while an outcry is heard over any citizen who doens’t work for the government or in a special category.

They already get taxpayer money as their salary when they work for the Government. They get very good healthcare and benefits. If they don’t want to work for government they don’t have to. They can go work for industry.

I am not impressed with people who are being hired right out of College going into government. They have no real life experience in those fields. What is taught in a classroom doesn’t always translate into real life the same. It is important for government workers to have real life experience and experience in the fields.

An additional benefit they get from working for the Government is the experience. They put that on a resume and they are going to get a good job if they no longer work for government. They get enough benefits without having taxpayers pay their loans off also.

Fauci is an example of someone who was hired from school to Government. He never worked as a Medical Doctor outside of the government but he was telling all Healthcare Providers what to do. The incentives that he gained from working in Government harmed the citizens. He is a millionaire.

We need people who have real life experience in government and whose motives are in the right place.
