No Federal Income Tax for Our First Responders/AD Military/Veterans

A recommended proposal is to seek no Federal Income Tax on our First Responders, Active Duty Military, and Veterans. Their pay comes from taxes which then is taxed again. These individuals are serving their great communities, our nation, and have served in the pursuit of a safe and healthy America. Many are living below the poverty line but are taxed.

Its about time our first responders get recognized on the same level as the military and Im sure that is going to ruffle some feathers. However, our nations first responders are exposed to horrific situations with life and death decisions in their hands day in and day out. PTSD is somewhat talked about but NEVER taken seriously. Pensions…HA! Take it from someone who worked a street beat for 18 1/2 years carried by a pile up of documented critical incidents and TAXES duly paid to society. I was denied by the military due to a faulty heart valve and thats why I joined the police, had to serve somewhere.

Great idea! You could tie the elimination of income tax, especially for military service, to 10 years honorable service. Or, essentially become “vested” after a defined period of service - or maybe a sliding maximum scale: Flat Income Tax of 10% for 10 years, 5% for 15 years and finally No income tax for 20 years honorable service.

I would also include specific “carve outs” for those disabled during their service, whose injuries prevented them from serving their entire term of service.

Absolutely, as a recently retired Veteran that got to “experience” the horrors of war, I am so appreciative of our First Responders who serve, protect, and save every day.
