Ban TV ads by big pharma for prescription drugs. Prescription drugs are prescribed by your medical provider, direct the marketing to the providers not the public.
… and limit marketing to providers to very basic forms!
only text and tables.
no invitations to “seminaries” that see more a vacation with half an hours ad presentation instead of serious learning.

Open for discussion: what would replace the medias pharma add revenue? Short constructive or public service adds : Local business adds, or public service announcements ; “ Random acts of kindness”, “Go Outside and Play”, “Cook a Meal together” “Catch a sunrise/sunset” How about “this moment of silence brought to you by …”
I feel like in theory this is great, but we would have to trust our doctors to do their job. So many people feel like their doctors do not listen to them and they’re just another patient who needs to be hurried out as soon as possible.
The ads encourage us to ask questions and suggest things to our doctors.
governmemt might create a public database with all medications in it.
with detailed description of every ingredient, what it does in the body, side effects, interactions with other medication, contraindications, short and long term use, different effects on men and women, etc.
make a short abstract which can be understood easily by lay people ( like saying “nerve pain” instead of “neuralgia” or “fever” instead of “hyperthermia”) AND add professional academic info AND offer a dictionnary where all terms are clearly explained.
it would be great if commentary could be added, where users can tell about their experiences, which might trigger new research or which might make government regulate the medication.
