A single person working 40 hours per week at the federal minimum wage level ($7.25) should be able to afford their basic needs. (Food, water, shelter, clothing). Further more affordable housing such as micro apartments (200sq feet) should be easily available for all young adults with a cap rent of $420 including water, sewer, garbage, and electricity. If minimum wage is higher in an area it should not effect the pricing of housing to further assist in young adults being able to save to buy a house if they’d like or to move into a bigger rental.
