Recruiting is down for the US Military. Partially because Congress changed the retirement system from the High Three System to Strictly a TPS system.
Under the High Three System Military Members retirements equals 50% of the average of their highest three years of pay. The TPS Retirement is a fund matching system where the military member has to contribute to their own retirement.
The current TPS system is a pay cut from the old system. Most places near me pay $15 an hour, which is less than the military pays.
Also stop taxing military pensions. Military life is hard on service members and difficult for their families. I believe we as American citizens owe our retired military members a debt of gratitude. Many other pensions are tax free, why do we tax our retired service members?
All pensions and Social Security should not be taxed…
Ah, screw it. Repeal the 16th Amendment, eliminate the income tax, disband the IRS, end the FED, enjoy real prosperity for everyone…not just the owners of the country.
They need better retirement and better pay.
So my dad and my grandfather the uncles all of them served, my grandfather retired they tried to back out of his medical a few times and his advocate just basically said it was because he had outlived his expected life expectancy. I have a real problem with the way military treats their veterans. And I personally believe that if you serve when you leave you should still collect payment. If you serve 4 years during peacetime and you leave you should still get 10% of your paycheck every single month as a thank you for serving. If you serve during a time of conflict or war and are sent overseas into the conflict area then you should receive 100% of your pay when you leave every month for the rest of your life. If you serve 12 years during peacetime and you leave you should get 50% of your pay as a thank you if you served during conflict or in conflict then you should get a hundred percent of your pay as a thank you for the rest of your life if you serve to retirement you should be collecting 100% of your paycheck from the day you leave for the rest of your life and have full medical not reserved to a military Doctor full medical wherever you go.
