The One Thing #1
Federal Government Hiring/Promotion Based On Merit
Former President Obama issued Executive Order (EO) 13583 which created a whole of government approach to change the hiring/promotion process for Federal Government employees from one based on merit to hiring/promotion based on Diversity and Inclusion. This was the start of the overhaul of the government to shape it under an ideology rather than an institution which is supposed to work for the Americans. President Biden issued additional EOs 13985 and 14035 in addition to Presidential Memorandums building upon EO 13583. The focus on hiring based on anything but merit ensures that the Federal Government does not focus on the American people but on an ideology.
It takes 10 – 15 years for a new Federal Government hire to ascend to a leadership position or for an already employed worker to move up to a senior leadership position in the different agencies. In 2024, we are now 13 years into the reshaping of the Federal Bureaucracy through hiring/promotions not tied to merit started with EO 15833. For the past several years, Americans have witnessed the result of this focus as individuals are now in leadership positions and making decisions outside of their capacity.
Rescind EOs 13583, 13985, 14035 and related Presidential Memorandums. Eliminate all DEIA offices and hiring practices across the Federal Government. Hire and promote based on merit and capacity to do the job.
