It seems to me that we no longer need mail service every day. I’m proposing raising all mail charges to first class mail. No exceptions for anyone and only deliver mail three times a week. Consider the cost savings as well as the impact on climate. Most of the mail we receive ends up in recycle or trash. Not suggesting this happens overnight. There are several ways to accomplish this. At some point we would have less than half the employees. Imagine what the post office spends everyday to deliver things we mostly don’t want. Environmentally we would save millions of gallons of fuel, rubber, paint, steel, paper, etc.
This is low hanging fruit. Start the process and then move to privatization of the postal service .
