Medicare Coverage

Medicare coverage needs to be expanded for seniors. I worked in the medical field for about 6 years, ophthalmology to be exact, and observed seniors who’ve worked their entire lives paying into the Medicare system to then struggle because Medicare only covers 80% of their allowable rate and also does not cover 3 of the biggest medical needs of seniors; glasses, dentures and hearing aids. All medical expenses and durable medical equipment should be covered at 100% for seniors who have paid into the system.

It’s a good thought but a good Advantage Plan will most likely address the issues you reference. Mine allows $1000/year towards those expenses. You did not pay for those things over the years. Your contribution only goes towards hospitalization Part A expenses. Part B expenses are paid by premium. You pay 1/4 and gov’t pays 3/4ths. Part D expenses are not covered at all unless they are incorporated into an Advantage plan.

Have you read about why advantage plans are actually worse and misleading?
