Health Insurance coverage should be for any doctor any hospital any specialist…PEOPLE PAY FOR COVERAGE and should be able to have issues handled no matter where or whom they see. I’ve experienced personally being turned down becoause of out of network and or change in policy…people waiting for months for an appointment just to wait days before then denied visit because of no longer accepting insurance is wrong…also i believe each place having their own portal n unable to share w other doctors or hospitals is wrong…how about our own personal medical portal n allowing individual access to doctors or hospitals allowing us as individuals complete access to our own medical files without jumping through hoops n aquiring them
I read a book a number of years ago, that stated France has a credit card that holds a person’s medical history and doctors/pharmacists have the ability to read the information, if the card is presented, otherwise only the patient has the medical history. A website would be nice, but I think it could be hacked and mined too easily. With the credit card type system, the medical history is only accessible when the card is physically present. We could utilize something like a medical alert bracelet with the link to the medical history.
These are issues that can only be taken up by a universal system. While what you suggest makes perfect sense, these providers are independent and will do whatever they please unless… they have no other choice. Consider many Drs. don’t accept Medicare or Medicaid.
