Medical, Dental, Vision Price Transparency

I am tired of physicians, dentists, and optometrists taking advantage of patients and billing them with hidden costs for treatments and procedures without obtaining consent or presenting the costs first. I have to ask to make sure I won’t get an extra bill for every little thing, and even then sometimes insurance doesn’t end up covering it. Also itemized receipts should be required for check out before paying.

Also, the cost of healthcare for an individual with no health conditions ends up being more expensive than not having insurance at all in my experience- how is that fair?

I agree! I paid $900 for a strep throat test! It was New Year’s Eve- so we went to the only Urgent Care center we could find. Out of network. The doctor KNEW we through it was strep- but he tested for EVERY OTHER virus under the sun. Our catastrophic insurance plan that covers nothing…covered nothing. We were forced to pay $900 for strep throat. This is criminal.
